What to wear for Christmas Morning: homewear or pyjamas
Two soft looks for our children’s room of frosted trees and twinkling lights, from our Christmas 2026 outfit guide.
Christmas Morning was created especially for the little ones: a dreamy children’s room filled with soft winter magic, frosted trees and twinkling lights.
It is a room made for play and cuddles, and the clothes should be too. Our Christmas 2026 outfit guide suggests two looks for it: homewear, and pyjamas. This article goes through both, with their colours and what works for children. It is also the room for the Christmas Mini, our fifteen-minute session for children only, with one outfit.
The idea behind both looks is the same. Choose a look that feels like you. Keep everyone in a shared palette, with different shades and textures. Comfort matters, especially for children. The photographs here are inspiration from our mood boards. You do not need to buy the exact pieces.
The palette for Christmas Morning
Our palette for Christmas 2026 runs through ivory, oatmeal, mushroom, soft grey, dusty blue, olive, forest, chocolate, navy and black. Soft neutrals form the base. Blue and green add colour. Black, navy or chocolate bring contrast to dressier looks.
Christmas Morning stays with the softest part of that palette: ivory, oatmeal and mushroom for homewear; ivory, dusty blue and oatmeal for pyjamas. Choose one look for the family, then give each person a different shade or texture within it.
Look 01
Homewear: soft loungewear for cuddles and play
The look. Loose knits, ribbed sets or a soft jumper with fluid satin trousers.
For children. Knitted two-pieces, cotton tops and cosy, plain socks.
Look for waffle textures and soft layers. Bare feet also suit the bed set.
Colours. Ivory, oatmeal and mushroom.
Our guide suggests homewear for Christmas Morning and for portraits on the sofa. It is the look for families who want the photographs to feel like a slow morning at home.
Look 02
Pyjamas: a Christmas morning together
The look. Classic cotton sets, gentle stripes or soft checks.
For children. Matching sets or coordinated prints in the same colour family.
Subtle piping and small festive prints. A plain top can balance checked bottoms.
Colours. Ivory, dusty blue and oatmeal.
Our guide suggests pyjamas for Christmas Morning and the kitchen, so a family in pyjamas can move between the two without changing. Our guide to family matching Christmas pyjamas covers fit, fabric and choosing a set.
One outfit for the Christmas Mini
The Christmas Mini is fifteen minutes for children only, up to three from the same household, in Christmas Morning, with one outfit. Either look works: homewear in ivory, oatmeal and mushroom, or pyjamas in ivory, dusty blue and oatmeal. Choose the one your children will be most comfortable in. Plain socks or bare feet suit the bed set.
Our guide to Christmas mini photoshoots in Dubai covers the rest of the session, and how to get natural photos of children has ideas for the youngest ones.
One outfit, more than one room
The Christmas Edit is thirty minutes for up to four people, in two of our three setups, with one outfit each. The Full Story is forty-five minutes for up to eight people, in all three setups, with up to two outfits each, though we recommend one.
Pyjamas work in Christmas Morning and the Christmas Kitchen, so they are the easy choice if those are your two rooms. If your session includes the Christmas Room as well, send us a photo of the outfits you have in mind and we will help you choose.
A few details before the shoot
What works. A shared palette across the family. Clothes children can move and play in. Steamed outfits and clean footwear. Plain socks or bare feet for the bed set.
Please avoid. Large logos, slogans and cartoon prints. Neon colours, or dominant bright red and burgundy. Several busy patterns together. Restrictive outfits or scratchy fabrics.
Send us a photo. Please send us a photo of your family’s proposed outfits before the shoot, so we can coordinate the looks with your set.

Let’s sum up
Christmas Morning suits two looks: homewear in ivory, oatmeal and mushroom, or pyjamas in ivory, dusty blue and oatmeal. Keep everyone in a shared palette with different shades and textures, choose soft clothes children can move and play in, and go with plain socks or bare feet on the bed set. Leave out logos, neon, dominant bright red and burgundy, and busy patterns worn together.
